Hurray for the Biosphere and its natural plenitude.

The Alps of Valle di Ledro e Giudicarie, a land that goes from the huge Lake Garda to the Dolomites of Brenta, obtained the UNESCO Biosphere recognition “Alpi Ledrensi e Judicaria”.

This recognition concluded a long path.

The UNESCO Biosphere goes from Lake Garda to the Dolomites of Brenta, more than 3,100 mt of difference in height in less than 30 as the crow flies. A territory full of biodiversity and history, where they have managed the natural resources for centuries and, most of all, they have been able to keep the strong connection with the land and its products.

Hurray for Valle di Ledro, a variegated and unique land with a luxuriant flora and fauna and exceptional natural elements. The most important sites are Monte Tremalzo, Bocca di Caset, Alpo di Bondone, the Dolomites of Brenta, Lake Ampola, or Bocca Trat, the mountain ridge between Monte Pichea and Rocchetta. Nowadays, these places are part of the biosphere.

Biosphere literally means “sphere of life” and in Valle di Ledro it includes nature, well-maintained landscapes, ancient hamlets, traditions, food&drink and outdoor life. A perfect mix to live great emotions.

To live the biosphere means to admire the beauty of the landscapes, to listen to the sounds of nature and its inhabitants, to smell the fragrance of wood and the undergrowth and the perfume of the colourful flowers. To live the biosphere also means to appreciate the man’s work when it creates new elements of the landscape while respecting nature. This is what our history has taught us: to create while safeguarding the environment for our future generations.

But the Biosphere is also for your taste. Would you like to experience a zero-km culinary contest?

Upvivium is a real contest for restauranteurs and gourmands and the silver threat are the five biosphere reserves – Delta of Po, Appennino Tosco-Emiliano, Alpi Ledrensi and Judicaria, Sila and Tuscany Islands part of UNESCO biosphere.

Every restauranteur has to cook a dish whose main ingredient is bread, but combined with three local products. From mid-February to the end of April, anyone can taste these dishes and vote for their favourite on

There will be five semi-finalists for any biosphere and each winner will face a winner of another biosphere in Alma, the headquarters of the Italian School of Cooking.
